Sri Lanka and the Maldives both have strong traditions of Quran learning. Many children attend Quran classes from a young age, and many students go on to memorize. What families often look for online is the next step: careful Tajweed correction, structured Hifz with regular revision, and for advanced students, an Ijazah with a connected Sanad. This guide explains how one-to-one online classes serve students in Colombo, Kandy, Kattankudy, Male, Addu and beyond.

Time Difference with Cairo

Neither country changes its clocks. Sri Lanka is three and a half hours ahead of Cairo in winter and two and a half hours ahead in summer. The Maldives is three hours ahead in winter and two hours ahead in summer. Classes run 24/7, and your teacher books lessons in your local time.

Classes in English, Arabic and French

Classes at Elbayan Academy are taught in English, Arabic and French. We do not teach in Tamil, Sinhala or Dhivehi. English is widely used in education in both countries, so most school-age students and adults follow the lessons easily, and the reading itself is in Arabic.

Improving Tajweed

Students who already read fluently often benefit most from detailed correction. The recitation and Tajweed course works through the rules with practice on real verses: the exits of the letters, heavy and light letters, the rules of noon and meem, the types of madd, and stopping and starting correctly. Children can begin with Tajweed for children.

Structured Hifz

One-to-one Hifz classes give each student a plan with three parts: new memorization, recent revision and old revision. The teacher hears every verse. See Quran Hifz classes for kids and online Hifz classes for teens and adults. Sisters can join the sisters memorization course with female teachers.

Ijazah with a Connected Sanad

All teachers at Elbayan Academy hold an Ijazah with a connected Sanad. Advanced students can work towards an Ijazah in Hafs from Asim, which costs $100 once. The student recites to the teacher with full Tajweed, and the teacher grants the Ijazah only when the recitation meets the standard. Read Quran Ijazah online with Sanad for the requirements. Students who want to go further can study the Ten Qiraat.

Tips for Hifz Students

  • Memorize at your best time: many students find early morning easiest.
  • Use one Mushaf: the same printed page helps the memory.
  • Never skip revision: old portions need regular review, every week.
  • Recite in prayer: use new surahs in Salah to keep them strong.
  • Read the monthly report: it shows progress and what needs more work.
