Bangladesh has a strong tradition of Quran memorization, and many students have already memorized part or all of the Quran. Online classes with a teacher who holds an Ijazah can help in two ways: polishing Tajweed and keeping memorization strong through regular revision with a qualified listener. This guide explains how one-to-one classes from Cairo work for students in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet and across Bangladesh.
Who These Classes Help Most
- Huffaz who want stronger Tajweed: students who memorized quickly but want to refine pronunciation and rules.
- Huffaz who need revision: a teacher who listens regularly helps keep the whole Quran strong.
- Students aiming for an Ijazah: reciting the whole Quran to a teacher with a connected Sanad.
- Children starting out: from 6 years old, with the Noor Al-Bayan course.
- Adults returning to the Quran: reading and Tajweed at an adult pace.
The Time Difference
Bangladesh does not change its clocks. Cairo is 4 hours behind Bangladesh in winter and 3 hours behind in summer, when Egypt uses summer time (from late April to late October). Classes run 24/7. Examples:
| Bangladesh time | Cairo in winter | Cairo in summer |
|---|---|---|
| 6:00 AM (after Fajr) | 2:00 AM | 3:00 AM |
| 4:00 PM | 12:00 PM | 1:00 PM |
| 8:30 PM | 4:30 PM | 5:30 PM |
| 10:30 PM | 6:30 PM | 7:30 PM |
Language of Teaching
Classes are taught in English, Arabic and French. Classes are not taught in Bangla. Students in English-medium schools and adults comfortable in English follow easily. For Hifz and Tajweed students who already read well, most of the class is recitation and correction, so English needs are modest.
Tajweed Points Bangla Speakers Often Work On
- ز (Zay), ذ (Dhal) and ظ (Dhaa): each has its own sound and articulation point, and they are easy to merge with ج or with each other.
- ف (Faa): a true “f” sound, made with the upper teeth on the lower lip.
- ث (Thaa) and س (Seen): ث is made with the tongue between the teeth.
- ض (Daad): a letter with its own distinct articulation, different from د and ظ.
- ع (Ayn), ح (Haa) and ق (Qaaf): throat and deep letters that need practice.
- Heavy and light letters: giving ص, ض, ط, ظ and ق their full, heavy sound.
In one-to-one classes the teacher corrects these on every line. The recitation and Tajweed course covers them step by step.
A Revision Plan for Huffaz
A common plan for a student who has memorized the whole Quran is 16 classes a month, four a week:
- Each class: recite a fixed portion of revision to the teacher, with correction of any mistakes.
- At home: revise the next portion daily before reciting it in class.
- Each month: a progress report shows which parts are strong and which need more revision.
- Over time: when recitation is consistently accurate, the student can begin the Ijazah path.

Ijazah and the Ten Qiraat
Students can work toward an Ijazah in Hafs from Asim, for a one-time fee of $100. Advanced students can also study the Ten Qiraat, both Sughra and Kubra. All teachers are certified from Al-Azhar University and hold an Ijazah with a connected Sanad. Elbayan Academy is an independent academy and is not part of Al-Azhar.
Indo-Pak or Madani Mushaf?
Many students in Bangladesh learned from the Indo-Pak script. The recitation is the same; only the script style and some symbols differ. You can continue with your Mushaf or move to the Madani Mushaf gradually. See our guide on the Madani and Indo-Pak Mushaf and our article for students in Pakistan, which covers a similar transition.
A Sample Week for a University Student in Dhaka
A student with classes during the day might choose 8 classes a month on Sunday and Wednesday at 9:30 PM Bangladesh time, which is 5:30 PM in Cairo in winter. On other days, 15 minutes of revision after Fajr keeps memorization strong. A student preparing for the Ijazah would more often choose 16 classes, for example Saturday to Tuesday at 6:00 AM.
Bangladeshi Families Living Abroad
Many Bangladeshi families live in the UK, the Gulf, North America and elsewhere. The same one-to-one classes work wherever you live, and children who grew up abroad usually follow English explanations easily. See our guides for families in the UK and families in the USA.
