Filipino Muslims include long-established communities in Mindanao and growing communities in Manila and other cities, as well as many people who have embraced Islam as adults. For all of them, one-to-one online Quran classes in English offer a comfortable way to learn: starting from the letters if needed, at a fixed time, with a qualified teacher who corrects every word.

Who These Classes Help

  • Reverts (Balik-Islam): learning to read the Quran from zero, and the surahs needed for salah.
  • Children from 6 years old: reading, Tajweed and memorization.
  • Adults who learned as children: and want to improve their recitation.
  • Filipino families working abroad: in the Gulf and elsewhere, who want their children to keep learning.
  • Sisters: who prefer a female teacher.

Classes in English

Classes are taught in English, Arabic and French. Because English is widely used in Philippine schools and workplaces, most learners follow explanations easily. Classes are not taught in Filipino, Tagalog or Mindanao languages.

Starting from Zero

  1. Letters and sounds: the Noor Al-Bayan course teaches reading step by step.
  2. Al-Fatihah and short surahs: correct recitation for salah, with meanings explained in English.
  3. Fluent reading: building speed and accuracy.
  4. Tajweed: the recitation and Tajweed course.
  5. Memorization: online Hifz classes for those who want to continue.

Our Quran reading and writing course also helps beginners practise the script.

A First Month for a Revert

  1. Week 1: the letters and their sounds, especially those new to English speakers.
  2. Week 2: joining letters and reading short syllables.
  3. Week 3: reading the first verses of Al-Fatihah with the teacher.
  4. Week 4: reciting Al-Fatihah with improving accuracy, and the first monthly progress report.

Every learner moves at their own pace; the point is steady progress without pressure.

The Time Difference

The Philippines does not change its clocks. Cairo is 6 hours behind the Philippines in winter and 5 hours behind in summer. Classes run 24/7. Examples:

Philippine timeCairo in winterWho it suits
5:30 PM11:30 AMChildren after school
8:30 PM2:30 PMWorking adults
Saturday 9:00 AM3:00 AMWeekend learners

Families working in the Gulf can see our guides for Saudi Arabia and Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

For Children

Children start from 6 years old. Short 30-minute classes suit their attention span, and parents receive a monthly progress report. A certificate of appreciation marks the end of each stage. See our Quran classes for kids and Tajweed for children.

For Sisters

Female teachers are available, and the sisters memorization course is taught by female teachers only, for female students. See our women’s program.

Tips for New Learners

  • Keep the same class times every week.
  • Practise ten minutes a day, even if it is only a few letters.
  • Listen to a clear recitation of the surah you are learning.
  • Ask questions: in a one-to-one class, there are no “silly” questions.

Learning as a Family

When one family member becomes Muslim or decides to learn, others often join. Each person has their own one-to-one class and plan, at their own level, and a 10% family discount applies when more than one family member studies. Parents who learn alongside their children can also listen to the children’s practice at home.

Ramadan

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around February 8, 2027, depending on the moon sighting. It is a time when many reverts take their first steps in reading the Quran. A realistic goal, such as learning Al-Fatihah and a few short surahs correctly, is better than a large goal that is hard to keep. Our Ramadan Quran plan for families has ideas that work anywhere.
