In Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the hardest part of Quran lessons is often not the lesson itself but the time it takes to get there. Online one-to-one classes remove the commute: a 30-minute class at home, with a qualified teacher, at a time that fits school, work and traffic. The UAE is 1 to 2 hours ahead of Cairo, so classes fall at normal hours for teachers.
Why Online Classes Suit UAE Families
- No driving: no traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road or across Abu Dhabi just for a 30-minute lesson.
- Busy schedules: school, after-school activities and long working days leave little time.
- English explanations: many expat children understand best in English. Classes are taught in English, Arabic and French.
- One-to-one attention: every word the child reads is heard and corrected.
- A female teacher if you prefer: for girls and for mothers.
Timing in the UAE
The UAE is 2 hours ahead of Cairo in winter and 1 hour ahead in summer. Since 2022 the UAE weekend has been Saturday and Sunday. Classes run 24/7. Popular slots:
| UAE time | Who it suits |
|---|---|
| Weekdays, 4:00 PM | Children after school |
| Friday afternoon | Families with a shorter Friday |
| Weekdays, 9:00 PM | Working parents |
| Saturday or Sunday, 9:00 AM | Weekend learners and Hifz revision |
| Weekdays, 6:00 AM | Early risers before school or work |
Sample Plans for Busy Families
- Beginner child (6–9): 8 classes a month, Monday and Wednesday at 4:00 PM, starting with the Noor Al-Bayan course.
- Child memorizing (10–14): 16 classes a month, Monday to Thursday at 5:00 PM, in Hifz classes for kids.
- Mother improving her recitation: 8 classes a month with a female teacher, weekday mornings after the school run.
- Father: 8 classes a month at 9:00 PM, or on weekend mornings.
Each family member has their own one-to-one plan, and a 10% family discount applies.
Quran and School Arabic Together
Arabic is a required subject for non-Arab students in UAE private schools for many years, and many children find it difficult. Some families split a 16-class plan between Quran and Arabic. Our guide on learning Arabic online for expat kids in the UAE explains how one-to-one Arabic classes support school learning.
What Your Family Can Learn
- Reading: the Noor Al-Bayan course, from 6 years old.
- Tajweed: the recitation and Tajweed course.
- Hifz: online Hifz classes.
- Ijazah: an Ijazah in Hafs from Asim, $100 paid once.
- Ten Qiraat: Sughra and Kubra, for advanced students.
- Arabic: Arabic for kids and Arabic for adults.
Summer, Ramadan and Travel
- Summer: many UAE families travel in July and August. Classes only need an internet connection, so they can continue from anywhere.
- Ramadan: Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around February 8, depending on the moon sighting. Earlier classes, after school or on weekend mornings, work best when children are fasting. See our Ramadan Quran plan for families for daily reading targets by age.
- School holidays: a good time for extra revision if you are at home.
Tips for Keeping Classes Going
- Keep the same slots every week, so classes become part of the routine.
- Prepare a quiet corner with a tablet, headphones and the book.
- Practise ten minutes a day between classes.
- Read the monthly progress report together and celebrate each certificate of appreciation.
Online Classes or a Local Centre?
Dubai and Abu Dhabi have many Quran centres and mosque programs, which offer community and a strong environment. Online classes suit families who need fixed short lessons without driving, explanations in English, or a female teacher at home. Some families use both: a centre on the weekend for community, and two online classes during the week for focused correction.
