Islamic studies give a Muslim the knowledge to live their faith with understanding: what we believe, how we worship, who our Prophet ﷺ was and how a Muslim behaves. At Elbayan Academy, children and adults study these subjects online in live one-to-one classes with certified teachers, at a pace that fits their age and level.

What our Islamic studies programs cover

Each subject is taught step by step, with simple explanations for beginners and deeper study for students who are ready for more.

  • Aqeedah (Islamic belief): the six pillars of faith, knowing Allah through His names and attributes, and the meaning of Tawhid. Read our guide to learning Aqeedah online.
  • Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence): purification, prayer, fasting, zakah and everyday rulings, taught in a clear and practical way. See learning Fiqh online.
  • Seerah: the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ from his birth in Makkah to his final years in Madinah, with the lessons each stage teaches. Start with key stages of the Seerah.
  • Stories of the Prophets: the messages and lessons of the prophets mentioned in the Quran, told in an age-appropriate way. See stories of the Prophets for kids.
  • Islamic manners (Adab): respect for parents, honesty, kindness, cleanliness and the daily etiquette of a Muslim. See Islamic manners for kids.
  • Quran, Tajweed and Tafsir: reading, correct recitation, memorization and understanding the meanings of the verses.

Programs for every age

Children

Young learners start with the basics: the five pillars of Islam, short duas, wudu and prayer, stories of the Prophets and daily manners. Lessons are 30 minutes, interactive and full of examples from a child’s own life, so faith becomes something they understand and love. Explore our kids program.

Teens

Teenagers move from stories to reasons: why we believe, how rulings are derived, and how the Seerah answers questions they face at school and online. Teachers encourage questions and discussion in every class.

Adults and new Muslims

Adults can build a complete foundation in Aqeedah, Fiqh of worship and Seerah, or focus on one subject. New Muslims start with the essentials: belief, wudu, prayer and reading the Quran. Our new Muslim guide explains the first steps. See also our adults program and women program.

A sample learning path

Every student’s plan is personal, but a typical path looks like this:

  1. Foundations: the five pillars of Islam, the six pillars of faith, wudu and prayer, short surahs and daily duas.
  2. Building knowledge: Fiqh of worship in more detail, the main stages of the Seerah and the stories of the Prophets.
  3. Deeper understanding: the names and attributes of Allah, the evidence behind beliefs and rulings, and Tafsir of selected surahs.
  4. Living the knowledge: Islamic manners, family life and character, with practical examples from the Sunnah.

Students can move faster or slower through each stage, and can combine Islamic studies with Quran or Arabic classes.

How the classes work

  1. Free trial class: meet your teacher, who assesses your level and goals.
  2. Personal plan: you choose the subjects and a weekly schedule that suits you.
  3. Live one-to-one lessons: each class combines explanation, examples, questions and a short review of the previous lesson.
