Affordable Quran classes in the USA do not have to mean large groups or unqualified teachers. At Elbayan Academy, a 30-minute one-to-one online class with a certified teacher from Al-Azhar University costs $5. This guide shows what that price includes, what a month or a year costs, and how to judge value rather than only price.
The Price in Plain Numbers
| Plan | Classes | Monthly price | Cost per class |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two classes a week | 8 a month | $40 | $5 |
| Four classes a week | 16 a month | $80 | $5 |
Paying for a year brings 20% off. On the 8-class plan that is $384 a year instead of $480; on the 16-class plan it is $768 instead of $960. When more than one family member studies, a 10% family discount applies. For example, two children on the 8-class plan would normally be $80 a month, and $72 with the family discount. Ask us how the annual and family discounts apply to your own case.
What Each $5 Class Includes
- A full 30 minutes, one-to-one: the teacher works only with your child or with you. No waiting while other students read.
- A qualified teacher: all teachers are certified from Al-Azhar University, and all hold an Ijazah with a connected Sanad.
- Immediate correction: every mistake in pronunciation or Tajweed is heard and fixed during the lesson.
- A plan for your level: beginners start with the Noor Al-Bayan reading course; others continue with recitation, Tajweed, memorization or Arabic.
- Monthly progress report: parents see what was covered and what comes next.
- A certificate of appreciation at the end of each stage.
- Teaching in English, Arabic or French, so American children understand every explanation.
Why One-to-One Can Cost Less Than It Seems
Group classes can look cheaper per hour, but each student may read aloud for only a few minutes. In a one-to-one class, the student reads for most of the 30 minutes. Over a month of 8 classes, that is about four hours of personal reading and correction. Families also save the time and fuel of driving to a center, which matters in US suburbs where distances are long.
Which Plan Fits Which Goal?
- Learning to read (Noor Al-Bayan): 8 classes a month is usually enough if the child practises for 10 minutes on the other days.
- Improving Tajweed: 8 classes works for adults; children often progress faster with 16.
- Hifz (memorization): 16 classes a month is the common choice, because new memorization and revision both need frequent listening by the teacher.
- Arabic language: 8 classes for steady progress, 16 for faster results before a trip or school exam.

You can start with a free trial class with no payment. After you subscribe, the refund policy is clear:
- A full refund within 7 days if no class was taken, or after the first class.
- After 2 to 4 classes, the remaining balance is refunded.
- After 4 classes, there is no refund.
How to Pay from the USA
Prices are in US dollars, so there is no exchange-rate surprise. You can pay with PayPal, Visa, Mastercard or bank transfer.
The Hidden Cost of Time
Price is not the only cost. In much of the US, a weekly trip to a Quran center can mean 20 to 40 minutes of driving each way, plus waiting time. Over a month of twice-weekly classes, that can add up to several hours for a parent. With online classes, the only time spent is the class itself. For families with more than one child, siblings can take their classes one after the other at home.
An Example Budget for a Family of Three
Imagine a family in New Jersey with two children learning to read and one parent improving Tajweed, each on 8 classes a month:
- Three students on the 8-class plan: 3 × $40 = $120 a month.
- With the 10% family discount: $108 a month.
- That is 24 one-to-one classes in a month, at $4.50 per class after the discount.
If the family later wants faster progress for one child starting Hifz, only that child needs to move to 16 classes. Plans are per student, so each family member can learn at their own pace.
Questions to Ask Any Affordable Academy
A low price is only good value if the teaching is good. Before you sign up anywhere, ask:
- Is the class one-to-one or a group, and how long is it really?
- What are the teacher’s qualifications? Do they hold an Ijazah?
- Is there a free trial?
- How is progress reported to parents?
- What is the refund policy, in writing?
- Are there any fees beyond the monthly plan?

Getting the Most from a Budget Plan
- Keep the same weekly slots so the class becomes a habit.
- Practise 10 minutes a day between classes; the teacher then uses class time for new material.
- Read the monthly report together and agree on one goal for the next month.
- Move to 16 classes only when the student is ready for faster progress, such as starting Hifz.
